Southern Train is exactly that, except that we stitch a couple of facings on for the eyelets to turn it from an Oxford into a Derby or Gibson. It's a classic style but is very much a connoisseur's shoe because most people would never notice that there wasn't the usual Gibson seam down the side of the shoe, where the quarter is stitched to the vamp.
With a whole-cut shoe you get one lovely piece of leather with continuous grain flowing the length of the shoe. If you have an eye for simplicity this is prettier than your run of the mill Derby like the Rattlesnake.
