Twenty years ago, my Grandfather took me down to the golf course and gave me a pair of his old shoes.

They were a beautiful pair of English, Goodyear welted shoes with studs protruding from leather soles.

Nowadays, it seems, the golf course is full of rubber soled 'sports' shoes adorned with a thousand logos. The Empire State Express is our golf shoe from the past. It is made from water resistant calf leather, has a water resistant 'Aquatex' membrane between the upper and the lining, and a sturdy leather sole with detachable tungsten studs.

It is a gentleman's golf shoe.
